Rhein Kanu
Overview
Intro
Experience a multi-pack of culture from crystal-clear waters. From thousand-year-old Stein am Rhein to Schaffhausen’s attractions, interspersed with numerous historic buildings nestling in natural beauty. This is quite rightly called «Europe’s most scenic stretch of water».
Description
You can enjoy a particularly cultural journey on one of Europe’s largest rivers. Between Bodensee and the Rhine Falls, the banks of the Rhine are lined with a unique concentration of sightseeing attractions.
Starting point is thousand-year-old Stein am Rhein, considered one of Switzerland’s most beautiful towns. You glide on crystal-clear waters, the current carrying you gently past historic houses, monasteries and fortifications, interrupted only by natural beauty and tempting bathing beaches. Numerous restaurants along the water’s edge cater for culinary delights. Most have their own landing stages.
On reaching Schaffhausen, a stroll through the lanes in the old town quarter is highly recommended. As a finale, make the climb to the old Munot fortress and let your gaze sweep over the Rhine once more. Or make a detour to the Rhine Falls. The torrents of water cascade down 23 metres, an impressive natural spectacle.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
