Winterthur is a delightful place to live. Although it has the character of a big city, it is also very personal.

A weekly market in a beautiful setting.

Diana likes to start her day with a visit to the weekly market held in Steinberggasse in the city’s picturesque old town. The old houses, narrow streets and attractive fountains add to the charm of the setting. The market sells organic vegetables and natural products sourced from the local region. The whole area is a car-free zone.

Winterthur – a green city.

Despite its industrial heritage, Winterthur is a green city with an abundance of parks and gardens. Nature is never far away in Winterthur: the City Park is just a stone’s throw from the old town. and offers an oasis of tranquillity and relaxation in the heart of the city. Diana likes to come here to read and draw inspiration from nature.

Masterpieces by renowned artists.

The Oskar Reinhart Collection consists predominantly of French paintings from the 19th century, with a particular focus on the Impressionists. Oskar Reinhart was drawn by the big names in art rather than particular periods and devoted himself to collecting only artwork that represented the crème de la crème.

The collection is home to paintings by Manet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Picasso and Monet.

Painting in the gallery.

Visitors to the collection can get their creative juices flowing in a painting workshop, in which participants are encouraged to create a fresh twist on one of the masterpieces. Diana finds painting in this unique setting both restful and relaxing.

Enjoying the delights of the museum park.

As well as attending a painting workshop, visitors can experience the confluence of nature and art by taking a basket filled with tasty treats and enjoying a picnic under the fruit trees in the magnificent museum park. The items in the pre-filled picnic baskets all follow a theme related to the artists in the collection.
