Magnetics
Overview
Intro
Join us on a journey from extracting magnetism from iron ore to its application in the latest and most efficient high-tech electric motors!
An Exhibition on the Power of Electromagnetism
Discover how magnetic force is generated from iron, copper, and electricity, and learn more about:
- Magnetizable iron and its geometries for maximizing force
- The role of copper in conducting electricity
- Electricity: Where it comes from and how it’s transmitted
- The comparison: “Gasoline and spark plugs” versus “iron, copper, and electricity”
- Generate electricity yourself and experience the force firsthand
Feel the fascinating power of magnetism at work in so many of our electrical devices.
The exhibition offers exciting insights into the fundamentals of electromagnetism and provides a hands-on experience through experiments developed by the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland and Technorama Winterthur. We’re showcasing numerous exclusive exhibits, such as the Mars rover from Maxon and the hub motor from the “mythen” electric race car developed by ETH Zurich and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
The engaging and interactive exhibits invite you to learn and participate. Feel and experience the power of electromagnetism!
