Sauvages - Behind the scenes of Claude Barras' film
Overview
Intro
The Sauvages exhibition invites young and old alike to prolong the magic of the film by entering into the intimacy of its creation.
The Sauvages exhibition invites young and old alike to prolong the magic of the film by entering into the intimacy of its creation. Richly illustrated with original documents - drawings, travel diaries, sets, figurines - created by Claude Barras and his team, the exhibition is divided into three sections:
The first section highlights the region's major ecological and cultural challenges: deforestation, palm oil monoculture, the disappearance of indigenous traditions. In particular, we discover the struggle of the Penan people.
The second section lifts the veil on the genesis and production stages of the film: from script writing to the birth of the characters, via the creation of the sets, visitors are invited to enter the film's workshop and discover the extraordinary detail involved in this creative process.
A final section plunges visitors into the heart of the filming process. Intimate photographs and never-before-seen eyewitness accounts reveal the special atmosphere on the set.
With its original and enduring scenography, the exhibition reveals the fascinating and magical world of Sauvages, a stop-motion film that is sensitive, human and committed.
