Intro

Die Ausstellung wirft einen Blick hinter die Kulissen eines römischen Banketts und lässt Besuchende staunen über die Fülle an Informationen, die der Abfall von damals überliefert.

Wir schreiben das Jahr 39 n. Chr. Hoher Besuch trifft in Augusta Raurica ein. Ein luxuriöses Bankett wird dafür vorbereitet. Die Überreste landen in einer Grube, wo sie fast 2000 Jahre verborgen bleiben. Wer ist eingeladen? Welche Speisen werden aufgetischt?

Im zweiten Teil der Ausstellung «Das perfekte Dinner. Römer, Macht und Müll» richtet sich der Fokus auf das Essen. Die Funde aus der antiken Abfallgrube belegen, dass den Gästen dieses einzigartigen Banketts nur das Feinste serviert wurde. In der Ausstellung wird gezeigt, wie die exotischen Speisen ihren langen Weg nach Augusta Raurica fanden, woher die erlesenen Zutaten stammen und von welchen Tieren die gefundenen Knochen herrühren. Begib dich auf eine spannende Spurensuche!

Rahmenprogramm

Es werden begleitete dialogische Rundgänge und Degustationsworkshops angeboten. Im Austausch mit den Vermittlungsmitarbeitenden werden die Inhalte der Ausstellung diskutiert, Verbindungen zur Gegenwart hergestellt, und wer möchte, kann römischen Wein probieren. Im Gruppenworkshop «Gustatio romana – Römische Häppchen selbst gemacht» kann ein römischer Apéro selbst hergestellt und verköstigt werden.
