World Cup Skiing in Adelboden

World Cup ski technicians are confronted with the most challenging mountain in the ski circus on the steep "Chuenisbärgli” slope in Adelboden - as each year slalom fans and specialists crave for more as the Adelboden race days approach. The "Chuenisbärgli" ski festival is equally as popular too. Top views are enjoyed from the "Wintertal" side of the track - where skiers appear as though shot from the barrel of a gun before negotiating the flatter bends of the mid section. However, flat is not a common word on the "Chuenisbärgli" - where the key point has a 10 percent gradient and extremely steep sections at the start and finish challenge with a 60 percent slant.

Since 1956 tens of thousands of fans have celebrated their heroes in Adelboden - and the book of winners is full of legends: Ingemar Stenmark, Pirmin Zurbriggen, Alberto Tomba and Didier Cuche. The last Swiss victory was in 2008, with Marc Berthod in the Giant Slalom.

The "Chuenisbärgli" races take place in January; starting with the Giant Slalom on Saturday. The slalom is on Sunday. The best thing about technical disciplines is that there are always two runs, guaranteeing twice as much fun in the snow on watching.
