Intro
Panoramic hike above Crans-Montana. The main attraction: the magnificent view of the 4000-metre mountain range and the Rhone valley. Another scenic highlight is the section in the Tièche valley.
Description
The name of this hike says it all: you will be able to enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Rhone valley and the snow-capped four-thousand-metre peaks in the distance. On the opposite side: the Val d'Anniviers, majestically framed by five four-thousand-metre peaks with the Matterhorn as a highlight in the background. The starting point of the tour is the top station of the Cry d'Er cable car with a restaurant and a sunny panorama terrace.
The first quite even part of the trail leads across green meadows where marmots can be observed. This area is ideal for them: they find shelter in the barren scree slopes and there is also plenty of grass and small springs. Taking a break at the Violettes hut (2208 m) is a splendid idea. The traditional Valais dishes are simple but excellent, since the Michelin-starred chef also runs one of the best gourmet restaurants in Crans-Montana. From here, the tour continues below the Plaine Morte glacier and around the slopes of the Petit Mont Bonvin to the beautiful valley where the Tièche river flows.
The Tièche valley is another highlight of the hike, a natural paradise with waterfalls, larches and alpine pastures. From here you start to descend to the resort of Aminona to the east of Crans-Montana. A beautiful section follows the Tsittoret irrigation channel which was built in the 15th century and is fed by the Tièche in the east, which further down is called Raspille and marks the German-French language border in the canton of Valais. The final descent then begins via Buvette Cave du Sex.
