Intro

20 marked trail running routes offer running enthusiasts of all levels the opportunity to discover the varied landscape of the Val d'Hérens (Eringer Valley), from charming mountain villages to Alpine terrain. Ambitious runners can compete with other runners on two routes.

Trail running is becoming increasingly popular all over the world. Those who love discovering new regions on foot should put the Val d’Hérens at the top of their to-do list. The mountain backdrop of the Valais side valley is one of the most impressive in the mountainous canton. 

20 marked routes – designed by runners for runners

The various trail running routes accommodate runners of all levels. They lead from lush green Alpine meadows through sparse larch forests and up to the barren high Alpine rocky landscape at 3,000 metres above sea level. One of the most varied, but also most demanding, routes is the trail from Saint-Martin via the small hamlet of L’A Vielle to the Cabane Becs de Bosson. The jaw-dropping views from the mountain hut 2,982 metres up are worth every bit of effort. This is one of two DéfiTrail routes, where runners can face off against others. 

The mobile app “Val d’Hérens Outdoor Experiences” contains information on all the trails as well as nearby points of interest (Alpine huts, geological or cultural history attractions, drinking water stations, accommodation, etc.) – thanks to geolocation, this information is provided in real time. The runners can also make sure they are on the correct route.
