Intro

There are many marmots to be found in Spielboden near Saas-Fee, sometimes hiding in their burrows, but often coming out to greet visitors.

The marmots are arguably the cutest village dwellers in Saas-Fee. Anyone exploring Spielboden and the area around the Stafelwald will probably be lucky enough to encounter marmots. They love to feast on the nuts and carrots offered by visitors in summer. To make the most of your experience with the charming marmots, bring along a special bag of nuts to feed them, which can be purchased at the Saas-Fee tourist office. The little bags also make a great souvenir and can be reused (price: CHF 6.00).

In winter, these cute little creatures sleep soundly in their burrows. They hibernate for between six and eight months. From mid-April onwards, the marmots will emerge again – and are looking forward to your visit!
