Intro

Énergies fossiles: An exhibition that intoxicates the senses! Young talents from France & local artists awaken prehistoric times with sound, scent and ceramics. Alchemy meets regional nature.

Pauline Marx in collaboration with Aëla Maï Cabel, Karola Kauffmann, Maëtte Lannuzel, Vica Pacheco, Tatiana Karl Pez, Jérémy Piningre, Frauke Roloff, Nika Schudel

The immersive installation "Énergies fossiles" explores the hidden energy and traces of life in fossils and rocks.

Together with an international team, artist and musician Pauline Marx has created a multi-sensory Gesamtkunstwerk. The participants are Aëla Maï Cabel (Paris, FR), Karola Kauffmann (Hottingen/Hotzenwald, DE), Maëtte Lannuzel (Brest, FR), Vica Pacheco (Oaxaca, Mexico; Brussels, BE), Tatiana Karl Pez (aka Audrey Gleizes Antunes, Toulouse, FR), Jérémy Piningre (Paris, FR), Frauke Roloff (Schopfheim, DE), Nika Schudel (Laufenburg, CH). The project builds a bridge between art, alchemy and science by using regional materials from the Jurapark Aargau, such as soil from Frick, fossils and wild plants.

Handmade light, scent, sound and textile sculptures bring a chthonic, subterranean world to life. Immerse yourself in the sensory world of fossils, smell the aromas of primeval plants and listen to the echo of mineral time.

"Énergies fossiles" invites you to rediscover the secret history of the earth with all your senses.

Pauline Marx

Pauline Marx, based in Saint Rivoal near Brest (Brittany), is a multidisciplinary artist who combines performance, ceramics and sound art. Her work focuses on the representation of non-human environments by interweaving elements of science fiction, anthropology and speculative archaeology. Her expertise in chthonic rhythms and her approach to an "ecology of attention" make her the ideal lead artist for this project. As a musician, she performs under the name Le diable dégoûtant.

Aela Maï Cabel

Aela Maï Cabel (Paris) is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice is aligned with the intersectional and transfeminist exploration of feminist theories and science fiction narratives. Her oeuvre, which includes ceramic techniques, performance and publishing activities, is based on a reciprocal exchange of knowledge and the mastery of traditional crafts - from ceramics to complex textile practices.

Maëtte Lannuzel

Maëtte Lannuzel from Brest (Brittany) is an herbalist and artist whose practice combines scientific knowledge with a deep connection to the plant world. Her expertise in the distillation of essential oils is crucial for the planned fragrance sculptures. She fits in perfectly with the alchemical concept of the project, as she artistically reveals the hidden energies of nature.

Tatiana Karl Pez (i.e. Audrey Gleizes Antunes)

Audrey Gleizes Antunes, known as Tatiana Karl Pez, is a performance artist based in Toulouse, Brussels and Paris. Her work combines poetry, song, dance and installation to explore the boundaries between fiction and reality. She will use the entire exhibition decor as a stage to transform the chthonic exploration of the project into a dynamic and immersive experience.

Vica Pacheco

Vica Pacheco from Brussels and Oaxaca, Mexico is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in experimental music, ceramics and 3D animation. Her practice focuses on the interaction between humans and non-humans. Her expertise in sound art and ceramics is crucial for the realization of the planned sound sculptures and will enrich the project with a unique energy.

Jérémy Piningre

The work of Jérémy Piningre (Paris) focuses on non-hierarchical narrative structures in which collectives, micro-societies and non-human figures form the protagonists. His publications, which are aimed at adults and young readers, are characterized by the experimental fusion of unconventional language levels, ranging from modern SMS language and inclusive spelling to medieval soundscapes.

Frauke Roloff

Frauke Roloff from Schopfheim near Lörrach is an artist whose practice is rooted in pre- and protohistoric ceramics. She uses archaic techniques such as smoke and flame coloring to give the surfaces of her ceramics an inner glow. This unique approach, combined with the production of glazes from local plant ash, makes her an indispensable partner for the project.

Nika Schudel

Nika Schudel is a ceramicist who works in Laufenburg. She is an active artist in the regional Aargau art scene and will enrich the project with her ceramics and objects, which also have a strong local connection.

Karola Kauffmann

Karola Kauffmann from Hottingen near Laufenburg is a hand weaver who combines traditional craftsmanship with experimental textile artworks. Her work is characterized by the use of unconventional materials. Her expertise in hand-woven textiles is crucial for the planned installations and costumes, which build a bridge between the "mineral age" and the present.
