Intro

On the far side of the Chasseron in the Neuchâtel Jura and after an easy chairlift ride, you’ll find a challenging run that criss-crosses the Alpine pastures of La Robella, passes through forests and ends in the village of Buttes.

Description

The Val-de-Travers is famous for its magnificent Jura landscapes with vast forests and steep-sided valleys as well as the wide-open prairies on the high plateaux with some very special rocks. Above the village of Buttes, a small cliff truly does resemble the face of a monkey. This is why Buttes is nicknamed Monkey Rock Village.

Perhaps you will notice this rock and its long muzzle as you ascend to the La Robella Alpine pasture by ski lift. The seats are padded and fitted with a hook for suspending your sledge. Or you can hire a sledge on site. Very practical for reaching the starting point of the sledge run, which is in front of the Alpine pasture restaurant of La Robella.

It starts on the gently sloping pasture that forms a small valley with beautiful views of the forests on the far side of the Val-de-Travers. A toboggan run with two hairpin bends then leads out of the small valley, passing through the Bois de Ban and beneath the chairlift before reaching the meadows that overlook the village of Buttes. The descent continues on the zigzagging path over the slopes and down to the chairlift valley station.

An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
