Intro
Cross the Thur over the crooked, arched stone bridge dating from 1487. Following the river course, the trail leads to Weinfelden in a mostly gentle descent. The Thurfeld lido at Schönenberg and the Thur lido at Weinfelden invite you to take a refreshing dip en route.

Description
From May to September, it is flower season in Bischofszell and in early summer the community turns into a veritable town of roses. The town even received the Wakker Prize for this from the Swiss organisation for local heritage protection.
Shortly after the start of the hike, you come across the impressive old Thur Bridge, an eight-trestle bridge over the Thur that is considered the largest preserved late medieval bridge in Switzerland. Construction of the bridge began around 1479 and took eight years. There are legends surrounding the creation of the bridge. A woman from Hohenzorn is said to have founded the stone bridge in memory of her two sons who drowned in a flood.
The trail then leads along the river through mostly forested sections to Schönenberg, a historic village south of Sulgen on the banks of the Thur. The history of Schönenberg goes back to the 12th century. This changed when a silk weaving factory was set up in the village in 1863. Together with the construction of the first bridge over the Thur in 1873 and the opening of the Sulgen-Gossau railway line, this ensured rapid growth and prosperity for the village.
The section between Kradolf and Bürglen is an industrial landscape. Bürglen is known for its castle, originating from the 9th century. At that time, it served to secure and control trade. The castle has been used as a schoolhouse since 1874 and has been rebuilt and restored several times for this purpose.
The path continues into the forest for a short distance, and after this you reach historic centre of Weinfelden and the final destination for this stage.
