Intro

The old town of Stein am Rhein, picturesquely situated on the banks of the Rhine, impresses with its well-preserved half-timbered houses, colorful facade paintings and historic buildings from the Middle Ages.

Stein am Rhein is known above all for its excellently preserved old town, which exudes a unique charm. The narrow streets are lined with magnificent half-timbered houses whose façades are decorated with artistic paintings.

These artistic depictions, which take up both biblical and secular themes, turn a stroll through the town into a journey into the past. The town hall and the houses around the town hall square in particular are true gems of historical architecture.

In addition to the architecture, the cultural offerings also attract many visitors. The former Benedictine abbey of St. Georgen, which was founded in the 11th century, now houses a museum that documents the history of the town and the region.
