Itinerary

The following 5-day itinerary starts and ends in Zurich. However, you can start and finish the tour at any other point along the tour.

 

Day 1 | Zurich - St.Gallen

Travel duration: 2 ½ hours

Highlights:

- Scenic ride: Thurbo - lakeline (optional river cruise
between Schaffhausen – Stein am Rhein)

- Top-sights: UNESCO Abbey district, Rhine Falls

- Mountain excursion: Säntis

- Zurich: The cosmopolitan city at the shores of Lake
Zurich – creative urban life combined with nature in all
its glory.

- St.Gallen: Between Lake Constance and the
Appenzellerland - picturesque St. Gallen with its
UNESCO Abbey District.

Timetable:

- Zurich - Schaffhausen

- Schaffhausen - St.Gallen

- Stein am Rhein–Schaffhausen (for river boat connections click „Advanced search“ and select only „Ship“ under transport type)

Day 2 | St.Gallen - Lucerne

Travel duration: 2 ¼ hours

Highlights:

- Scenic ride: Voralpen Express

- Top-sights: UNESCO Abbey district, Chapel Bridge

- Mountain excursions: Säntis, Pilatus, Rigi, Stanserhorn, Titlis

- St.Gallen: Between Lake Constance and the
Appenzellerland - picturesque St. Gallen with its
UNESCO Abbey District.

- Lucerne: The gateway to Central Switzerland with its
delightful lake and impressive Alpine panorama.

Day 3 | Lucerne - Interlaken - Montreux

Travel duration: 5 hours

at the foot of the Gotthard Pass – in the heart of the
Swiss Alpine passes at the intersection of the pass
routes from north to south and from west to east.

Matterhorn Gotthard Railway, Andermatt

Day 5 | Andermatt - Zurich

Travel duration: 2 hours

Highlights:

- Scenic ride: Treno Gottardo

- Top-sight: Schöllenen Gorge

- Mountain excursion: Furkapass

- Andermatt: This village lies in the in the high valley
