This is the Pilatus
The Pilatus can be found in the centre of Switzerland, south of
Lucerne and above
Lake Lucerne. The striking mountain massif is a real winner, with its spectacular cable cars and mountain railways, fantastic views and a wide range of leisure activities on offer.
Discover the Pilatus
Your Pilatus adventure may begin at the Pilatus shop in Lucerne – the one with the red dragon. Whether here or online, it is well worth reserving your spot on the boat and cable car or mountain railway. You can reach Pilatus Kulm in 60 to 80 minutes. No matter whether it’s from a vantage point, the panorama terrace or the
Dragon Trail, the views here are absolutely spectacular. Other highlights include the interactive “Dragon World” tour, two mountain restaurants and the
ibex safari – available to book if you stay overnight on the summit.
Golden Round Trip
Five modes of transport on one tour: this is what you can expect on the
Golden Round Trip from Lucerne to the Pilatus and back. On a
boat on Lake Lucerne, you’ll enjoy the ride to
Alpnachstad, where you will board the world’s steepest
cogwheel railway to Pilatus Kulm. Once you've had your fill of the panorama, take the “
Dragon Ride” cable car to Fräkmüntegg and continue on with the gondola lift to Kriens before returning to Lucerne by bus.
Fräkmüntegg Adventure Park
Near the cable car station, you’ll find the
Fräkmüntegg Adventure Park. Here, the high ropes course, treetop walkway, Dragon Glider and summer sled run offer you fun and thrills galore. After so much action, you can fortify yourself and recharge at the restaurant or at the Drachenalp kiosk and barbecue area.
Around the Pilatus
Discover Lucerne with its unmistakable cityscape. You can reach the
Bürgenstock with its spectacular
cliff path and outdoor lift by boat and cable car. From
Weggis or
Vitznau along the Lucerne Riviera, you can take a cable car or mountain railway up to the panoramic
Rigi. Or you can visit the
Glasi Museum in Hergiswil, where glass is formed by fire before your very eyes.
Experience the area around the Pilatus for less
With the
Tell Pass, the trip up to the Pilatus is free of charge. Discounts on the cable cars and mountain railway are available with SBB’s
RailAway combined offer for the Pilatus. Or you can get the
Wipfelstürmer Pass: included in this are the trip to Fräkmüntegg, the Dragon Glider, the treetop walkway and a barbecue bag. Incidentally, you can also spend an affordable and adventurous night on the Fräkmüntegg in a tree tent.
