Intro

Geneva is the cradle of the Red Cross. In the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, you will explore the pressing questions of humanitarian action in the past and in the future.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum at a glance

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum is located on Avenue de la Paix in Geneva, next to the headquarters of the International Red Cross (ICRC). It is dedicated to the work of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross movement. The collection shows around 500 objects from 150 years of humanitarian history.

What to experience

Permanent exhibition "The Humanitarian Adventure" (1–2 hours)

Follow the movement from its beginnings in the 19th century to the challenges of tomorrow. Testimonies from helpers and those affected as well as interactive stations will give you an understanding of humanitarian work. In the Agora, a central discussion space and in the Future Area, you are invited to find your own answers.

  • Good to know: The museum is under renovation until 2028, but will remain open with restrictions.
  • Tip: Combine the visit with a walk through the quarters of the UN and the NGOs.
