All hikes in Lake Zurich

A delightful hike through landscapes such as those once described by Gottfried Keller. Several climbs offer best views over the lake and surroundings – with the Glarner and Innerschweiz Alps providing a spectacular highlight of their own.

The Lützelsee lake in the Zürcher Oberland provides the region with an extremely popular recreation area. The round tour starts in Hombrechtikon and leads through the lush green landscape alongside the sparkling lake.

The Üetliberg railway (with regular scheduled trains) takes summiteers to Zurich's "own" mountain, 871 meters high. The high-altitude hike following the train trip is also suitable for families; after visiting the restaurant terrace on the Felsenegg, the gondola lift is waiting to take walkers down to Adliswil, where the S-Bahn (train) runs back towards Zurich.

The Erlenbach and Küsnacht Gorge area boasts much natural beauty. Highlights include the waterfall and the huge erratic boulder, Alexander's Stone, a large sandstone rock left over from the Ice Age.

The circular route from Zürich Höngg alongside the River Limmat soon leaves the city surroundings for a peaceful natural world. The route leads alongside the water, over the Werdinsel and past the Kloster Fahr (monastery) Relaxation can sometimes be close enough to touch.

The lakeside path leads along some of the loveliest Ostschweiz shoreline – and plenty of waterfowl can be observed at the Wurmsbach and Busskirch nature reserves. Several public bathing and sport areas are also discovered underway.

Enjoyable hike with superb views along the Albis ridge. Panoramic views from the Black Forest to the northern Jura foothills and the Glarner Alps. Wild garlic in spring. Castle ruins not far from the observation tower take you back to the Middle Ages.

The trail follows the spectacular Albis mountain chain from the Üetliberg to the Albishorn before descending to Ebertswil, where the milk soup stone commemorates the Kappel milk soup of 1529. After Baar, it runs along the old Lorze river to Lake Zug.

Walking along the southern Pfannenstiel foothills, it’s hard to believe you find yourself amidst one of Switzerland’s most populated agglomerations. Woods, pastures and vineyards adorn the way, followed by a descent over the Meilemer Tobel.

An excursion to the Zürichsee lake is always well worthwhile. The stretch from Horgen to Wädenswil affords particularly enchanting views over this popular body of water and the opportunity to enjoy a superb panorama.

The section from Rapperswil to Schmerikon is a true feast for the eyes. For all who appreciate peaceful, remote paths through idyllic countryside, romantic villages and lush vegetation on the shores of a glistening lake.

Starting at the Horgen fountain, the way leads alongside the lake, with numerous possibilities to take a break, a swim or light a fire underway. Highlight on this leg is the Halbinsel Au with its castle, park and natural pond– a real sight to see!

This high-level route leads over the popular Üetliberg to Buchenegg affording surprising, breathtaking views of Zurich city, Zurichsee lake and even the Alps. At the same time, it is an oasis of peace in wonderful natural surroundings.
