Lagh de Calvaresc at a glance
The view of the heart-shaped lake is probably one of the most spectacular views in Switzerland. Due to the location of the lake on the top of the mountain, it is not easy to reach. A path leads to the lake from the village of Rossa. The village of Rossa is located at 1064 meters above sea level. From there the path leads deep into the Calanca Valley to the Ganan hut at 2375 meters above sea level. The hike continues via the Bufalora hut, a mountain hut at 2078 meters above sea level. In total, the hike to the lake from the village of Rossa takes about six to eight hours.
The path to the lake is part of the famous "Sentiero Alpino Calanca", a high altitude path that runs along the ridges of the mountain ranges in the Alps. To walk the entire "Setiero Alpino Calanca", about three days are needed. During the hike it is possible to spend the night in different huts.
