This is Zweisimmen
Zweisimmen is located in the southwest of Switzerland in the
Simmental Valley, part of the
Bernese Oberland. The friendly chalet village on the river Simme is a popular hiking and winter sports region and gateway to the world-famous holiday resort of
Gstaad.
Discover Zweisimmen
Stroll through the village centre with its pretty wooden chalets and many shops. Take a detour to the
regional museum, where you can find out how the people of the Simmental lived in days of old. It is said that the Simmental has more cows than human inhabitants. With its lush alpine meadows, it is definitely one of the greenest valleys in Switzerland. Speaking of cows: seeing a cattle descent from Alpine pastures is an unforgettable experience.
Rinderberg, a hiking and winter paradise
A few steps from Zweisimmen train station, take the cable car to the 2079-metre
Rinderberg, where the
Horneggli Panorama Trail starts: this is a panoramic ridge hike, taking you past the Hornbergsee and an alp with a farm shop as far as the chair lift for Schönried. In winter, Gstaad’s skiing paradise will spoil you with cross-country ski trails, a
snow park,
tobogganing runs and plenty of fun on the slopes. Have you ever been on a ski safari? The
Rinderberg-Ronda connects three mountains and valleys with varied descents in about two hours.
GoldenPass panoramic experiences
The legendary
GoldenPass travels to
Interlaken on
Lake Thun or
Montreux on
Lake Geneva. Climb aboard, sit back and enjoy the beauty and diversity of Switzerland as you pass by. The chance to ride in a historic carriage from the Belle Epoque is a particular pleasure. Alternatively, take a trip on the
Cheese Train with a visit to a dairy followed by a delicious fondue.
