Intro

Wie beeinflussen geografische und kulturelle Herkunft das Schaffen von Künstler:innen? Welche visuellen und emotionalen Erinnerungen prägen ihr Werk?

Was gehört zum kollektiven Gedächtnis, was zur subjektiven Anschauung? Was inspiriert? Wird das Werk in einem anderen kulturellen Kontext anders verstanden und wahrgenommen?

Die Ausstellung «Auf Augenhöhe» möchte – im kleinen Rahmen – diese Fragen aufwerfen und zur Diskussion anregen. Dafür werden Künstler:innen aus nicht-europäi- schen Kulturen, und damit mit anderen visuellen Prägungen, eingeladen, ihre Arbeiten nebeneinander, gegenüber und im Zusammenhang zu zeigen. Ein respektvoller Dialog zwischen den unterschiedlichen Positionen soll entste- hen.

Drei Kunstschaffende mit Herkunft aus dem Nahen Osten sind eingeladen, im Projektraum AUTO ihre Arbeiten zu präsentieren. Die Ausstellung soll eine Begegnung ermöglichen und neue Zusammenhänge sichtbar machen.
