Hagen Tower-lookout
Overview
Intro
The Hagen viewing platform by Merishausen in canton Schaffhausen offers sweeping from the Black Forest as far as the Alps.
Accessible to the public, the 40-meter-high Hagen tower is the place to enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding country. Close to Merishausen, the steel construction was built on federal instruction back in 1989 to replace an older surveying tower close by. Standing 912-meters high the tower is the highest point in canton Schaffhausen – and this viewing platform above the treetops presents sweeping views over all of Schaffhausen, the Black Forest beyond the border and distant Alps.
The Hagen vantage point is easily reached on foot from Merishausen – and the and picnic and grill spot next to the viewing tower offers and ideal place to stop for a break prior to perhaps moving on to Randen, which is home to an additional lookout tower.
