Herzroute
Overview
Intro
The second stage of the popular Romont to Laupen heart route leads over a 63 km stretch through both pre-Alpine hills and the Three Lakes region with the towns of Avenches and Murten.
Description
The journey starts in the stately town of Romont, from where already the first kilometers are enjoyed with views of the Alps. The route then continues into the Arbogne Canyon, followed by a path along a hillside slope with views of Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Murten. Highlights are the medieval town of Avenches, with its Roman buildings and the harbor town of Murten, both of which are crossed along the way. The final section of the 63 km stretch runs on a dirt road along the Saane River as you make your way from German-speaking Switzerland to Laupen.
