Tiersteinberg Bike
Overview
Intro
Tiersteinberg Bike is a gem in the diverse «Jurapark Aargau» and a pleasure at any time of the year – but particularly in spring, when the cherry trees in the Fricktal region are in blossom. The wooded Tiersteinberg reveals amazing views over the Aargau Jura Plateau.
Description
Starting out from Frick, the route first leads over hilly ground to a plateau between Schupfart and Frick. After passing the sports airfield, you reach Wegenstetten. Then the real climb begins through the woods on the Tiersteinberg.
On the way, fantastic vantage points with fire pits on the Wegenstetter and the Schupfarter Fluh (elevated mound) beckon. Numerous other attractions, such as the Tiersteinberg ruins, Celtic burial mounds, shrines at the Buschberg Chapel, the Lourdes Grotto or the Martinsweg (Martin's Way) testify to earlier settlement of the region.
After a rest at Buschberg or the Tiersteinberg ruins, bikers are rewarded with an enjoyable ride downhill towards Gipf-Oberfrick through the orchard countryside. Anyone who wants to can find one of the designated «pick-me trees» to have a snack or a shady «tree chapel» with a bench. Farm shops with regional specialities such as dried fruit provide an energy boost.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
