Wine Museum, Sierre and Salgesch
Overview
Intro
A nature trail, which wends its way for 6 kilometers through the vineyards, links the Valaisian Wine and Vineyard Museums in Salgesch and Siders.
Located in the heart of the Valais, the Wine Museum is divided into two parts: one within the Château de Villa at Sierre and the other in the winegrowing village of Salgesch. The Wine Museum at Sierre is devoted to temporary themed exhibitions, while the Wine Museum at Salgesch presents the different facets of the region’s winemaking tradition in a colourful and playful manner, including the role of the soil, the grape-picking season, the mysteries of cellaring, different ways of drinking and the image of wine.
The six-kilometre vineyard path connects the two sites, revealing the beauties of the vineyards through the seasons. This 2.5-hour walk brings you into a real open-air museum. Walking alongside the vineyards in the Raspille gorge nature reserve, walkers will discover 80 illustrative boards telling the story not only of the vines, but also of the landscapes and the people living in them.
