Rhodonite – Journey into the Alpine mountain world
Overview
Intro
Guided day excursion to rhodonite deposits above Furtschellas with hike, picnic and creative stone-cutting workshop with Francesco Cortesi.
Excursion content This guided day hike introduces you to rhodonite deposits in the mountains above Furtschellas. Along the way you learn about manganese-rich minerals, the formation of the striking pink rock and the special features of the local geology. Schedule The hike lasts around 2.5 hours and covers 6–7 km with about 400 metres of elevation gain. There is time for a picnic break and for observing the surrounding nature. A respectful approach to the alpine environment and safety in the mountains are central aspects. After returning, the programme continues in the Creative Box: stone cutter Francesco Cortesi works on the collected finds and demonstrates how unique pieces of jewellery can be created. On the evening before the excursion there is an aperitif with an introduction by Michela Paganini at the hotel.
