Lake Kreuzboden
Intro
Lake Kreuzboden is a reservoir above the village of Saas-Grund, just across the valley. It is known for its picturesque views of the Mischabel mountains with the Allalinhorn, the Alphubel and Täschhorn, the Dom, the Lenzspitze, the Nadelhorn and other four-thousand-metre peaks. And, of course, it offers a magnificent view of the Alps.
As you make your way to the cable car, you’ll find a restaurant just before the Kreuzboden station. If the weather is nice, the restaurant terrace offers unrivalled views of the Saas mountain panorama.
Starting from Kreuzboden, the hike via Triftalp down to the foot of the mountain is particularly popular. Thanks to the many information panels, it is also known as the Flower Trail and introduces about 250 species of alpine plants.
