The Sedrun region is the cradle of the Rhine. At 2,345m above sea level, the Tomasee near the Oberalp Pass is the source of Europe’s most important river.
Description
Sedrun is situated in the uppermost section of the Surselva Valley below the Oberalp Pass on the border between the cantons of Graubünden and Uri. The source of the Rhine is an invigorating and restorative place to visit in both summer and winter. The Romansch culture and beautiful wild alpine landscape with its picturesque hamlets and villages are sure to delight all who come to visit.
Winter

Summer
In summer, Sedrun is best explored on foot or by mountain bike. One of the most popular hiking routes runs from the Oberalp Pass to the source of the Rhine and back in around three hours. The lighthouse on the Oberalp Pass creates a connection between the source and the mouth of the river in Rotterdam. At 2,046m above sea level, this is the highest lighthouse along the Rhine. A little downriver lies the first golf course on the Rhine, another popular summer attraction.
