The sweet city tour through the old town with schnapps tasting starts at the Käfigturm prison tower on Bärenplatz. This guided walk takes guests to the premises of chocolate pioneers Tobler, Bloch, Suchard & Wander. At each stop along the way, guests hear part of the history of the world’s favourite sweet treat and can sample a corresponding piece of chocolate. The next stage of the tour takes place down by the River Aare in the Matte Quarter, where Maître Rodolphe Lindt invented the melt-in-the-mouth chocolate that conquered the world in 1879. The Matte distillery is located nearby at Mühleplatz 5. The tour ends here with a tasting of the house’s award-winning spirits.
