Carmen.
Overview
Intro
From Voice to Freedom
At first, everything seems simple. A speaker steps forward to talk about the show whose summary you’re reading right now. Then, with little or no warning, she veers off course. And suddenly, Carmen appears. Alone on stage, Rosemary Standley takes on Georges Bizet’s legendary opera and retells it in her own way: freely, passionately, with humor, and with infectious joy. Through her words, her interpretations, and her personal perspective, the work comes to life in an unexpected form, accessible to opera enthusiasts as well as to those who know absolutely nothing about it.Following *Phèdre!* and *Giselle…*, François Gremaud continues his trilogy dedicated to three great tragic heroines of the performing arts. Three women who have become legendary, three fates that end tragically, and above all, three masterpieces revisited with delightful intelligence. A declaration of love for opera—funny, generous, and incredibly infectious.
