The European Heritage Days 2026 will explore the transience of our cultural heritage. You can look forward to seeing how this is implemented at the Open-Air Museum.
Combating decay
Even though the historic buildings at Ballenberg have escaped demolition, they are still at risk: their relocation and climate change are taking their toll on the buildings' fabric. On Heritage Day, the public can take a look behind the scenes and hear experts explain the structural issues facing the museum buildings and see them demonstrate how these challenges are being addressed using traditional and modern craftsmanship.
