Between the Countryside and the City: Stories of a Possible Coexistence
There’s a lot of talk about farmers. There’s a lot of talk about the land. There’s a lot of talk about the environment, food, and consumption. But do we really still talk to one another? Adapted from Blaise Hofmann’s book, *Faire paysan* sensitively explores a divide that cuts across our era: the one that often separates the agricultural world from the urban world. On one side are those who work the land. On the other are those who wish to connect with it without always understanding its realities. Performed by two actors and faithful to Hofmann’s writing, the play goes beyond clichés and simplistic dichotomies. It gives voice to perspectives, experiences, and questions that intersect without necessarily aligning. With intelligence and humanity, *Faire paysan* opens a space for dialogue around an essential question: how can we continue to live together when our worldviews seem to be drifting apart?
