Festa di Redde
Overview
Intro
The Festa di Redde is a medieval-themed event that takes place every two years in September in the Capriasca woods between Vaglio and Lugaggia, between the Redde Tower and the Church of San Clemente.
All the festival structures, such as the refreshment stand, the stage and the enclosures, are made of wood or materials that would have been available during the medieval period.
The currency used during the event is the Redde, in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20, with its own official exchange rate. Even the festival menu reflects the customs of yesteryear: grilled meat, Redde soup, etc. A lively market, evocative displays and a few pens with farm animals complete the festival's offering.
Since its first edition, held on 11 September 2004, the festival has offered moments of genuine excitement, featuring re-enactments of historic trades, sword fighting, archery, and the rhythms of both impromptu musicians and more organised musical groups (harps, alphorn horns, etc.).
