Passionate dances, rousing rhythms, and dazzling timbres characterize this extraordinary concert program. Trio Battida spans the spectrum from the energetic ballet music of Eastern Europe to the sensual sounds of Astor Piazzolla’s Tango Nuevo. In arrangements created specifically for the trio’s instrumentation, virtuosity, joy of performance, and musical wit blend into a captivating concert experience.
The program centers on highlights from Sergei Prokofiev’s *Romeo and Juliet*, complemented by Stravinsky’s furious *Danse infernale*, Bartók’s colorful Romanian Folk Dances, Khachaturian’s rousing Sabre Dance, and excerpts from Shostakovich’s lively Suite for Variety Orchestra. The three musicians dedicate the second half of the concert to Astor Piazzolla’s timeless tangos—a fascinating blend of Argentine tradition, classical music, and jazz.
