Visit to the farm
Overview
Intro
What do the cows do in winter and where are they in summer? What work is there to do on the farm? Four Appenzell farming families provide information right in the middle of the action.
What do the cows do in winter and where are they in summer? What work is there to do on the farm? Four Appenzell farming families provide information right in the middle of the action. On Wednesdays or Saturdays, you can take a look into the barn on their farms with their beautiful views, watch the cows being fed and learn interesting facts about cows, cattle, calves, sheep, goats, milk and machines from young and old. Gain an insight into the diverse activities and challenges of Appenzell agriculture. Appropriate footwear is recommended.
The Koster family runs a traditional dairy farm in a beautiful location above Gonten. Watering calves, haymaking, milking and fencing are just four of the countless activities required to ensure that animals and humans are well cared for.
To get to the farm, we recommend a hike, traveling by car or taking the PubliCar. We will be happy to help you with the reservation.
