On foot above the world’s longest tunnel
Overview
Intro
The Saint-Gotthard Massif, high above its well-known tunnel, is a magnet for hikers.
Thanks to the new Gotthard base tunnel, northern and southern Switzerland is now only separated by a 20-minute train ride or 57 kilometres. But why not look at the mountain above the tunnel? The Saint-Gotthard Massif is a language barrier, a water divide and holds extraordinary attraction. There are 33 hours of hiking, in 5 stages, between the entire length of the tunnel, from Erstfeld to Bodio. There are also guided tours on offer in a more natural terrain, way off the marked paths.
