Arnisee Trail
Overview
Intro
The trail from the idyllic Lake Arni to Vorderarni affords views of the Reuss Valley and across the mountains. This trail takes you over easy terrain with gentle ups and downs.
Description
The entry point to this winter wonderland is at the valley station in Intschi. The Intschi-Lake Arni cable car transports winter sports enthusiasts up into an Alpine paradise 1,368 metres above sea level. This circular trail by the lake takes you through a snow-covered mountain landscape over easy terrain with gentle ups and downs. The highlight: frozen Lake Arni with views of the mighty Mt. Bristen. Its uniform, triangular pyramid shape has made the mountain the popular icon for the canton of Uri.
The trail passes by Mittelarni, which can also be reached directly by the Amsteg-Lake Arni cable car, before continuing on towards Vorder Arni. While the snow crunches underfoot, your view sweeps over the Reuss Valley and to the Gross and Chli Windgällen. These mountains owe their names to the oldest feature in Uri: the Foehn. The name translates to wind-whistle, as they are constantly exposed to the wind.
After passing huts and barns you reach Lake Arni once again. Although this is an artificial lake, it is a real little gem with a very natural character. At the end of the hike you have a slightly more challenging loop to cover on the way to the mountain chapel, via Torli to Diessenbrunnen and then back to the Intschi-Lake Arni mountain station.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
