Intro
It is obvious why this trail is so popular: It is easy, well marked and the 4000-meter peaks of the Valais are always in sight. The peaceful hamlet of Flesch with Valais-style chalets followed by a lovely forest near the Aletschpromenade is also very appealing.
Description
The marked path begins directly at the upper station of the Bettmeralp cable car and climbs gently towards the Waldhaus hotel. You will pass in front of the Tosca chalet – along the edge of the forest and parallel to the Blausee ski lift – until you reach Gopplerlücke. Once you arrive there, you will not only be at the highest point of this snowshoe hike but will also discover a magnificent view of the snow-covered Valais Alps.
After walking along the edge of the forest for a while, the path heads gently downhill. Via Schweibuflüe you will arrive at the Golmenegg area. Here you cross the Aletschpromenade and continue your route on the path towards the valley. You will pass alongside the Saint Bernard Chapel and then continue your hike on a relatively flat path on open ground, passing through Biel and Flesch. After completing a small climb through an idyllic forest, you will arrive at the Aletschpromenade, level with the Restaurant Adler. Take the Aletschpromenade to return to Bettmeralp.
