Bois et Combes de St-Cergue Bike
Overview
Intro
This medium-loop circuit leaves from St-Cergue and leads through woods and pastures to La Givrine through the Regional Nature Park of the Vaudois Jura. The return trip takes bikers through beautiful little valleys back to the village.
Description
The first part of this discovery circuit of the Jura around St-Cergue takes cyclists along pastures and through forests. After the village, the itinerary leads across ski slopes to Guinfard and its typical chalets with a view of Lake Geneva. Arrival at L'Archette, the first of many pastures where the cows pass by during the famous, autumnal «Désalpe». Then there are the Alpine meadows of Couvaloup and Trélasse. Arrival on the La Givrine plateau, which is an excellent place to practice the Nordic sports in winter.
The second part of the itinerary passes by small valleys and typical farms of the Jura featuring a peat bog and «gogants» (pine trees with several tops) and the Regional Nature Park of the Vaudois Jura. At Combe Grasse, cyclists may want to make a little detour via the Alpine chalet called «Fruitières de Nyon», where they can discover how cheese is made (mornings), and also enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire Lake Geneva area. Descent to the farms at Prangine and Borsattaz and the well-deserved arrival at the village.
