Brienzersee Bike
Overview
Intro
This tour is marked by its breath-taking views of emerald-green Lake Brienz, unsurfaced tracks and panoramic trails. The highlight is the hanging bridge above Ebligen. Lake Brienz is an inviting place to bathe in summer.
Description
From the start at Interlaken Ost railway station, the route first follows the main road to Goldswil, passing the Burgseeli (lake), quite simply THE insider bathing tip on hot summer days. But the cooling-off session first has to be earned so you have to put the ascent to Hohfluh under your wheels.
You then enjoy a short section on an unsurfaced track down to Niederried before tackling another easy climb to Fahrlauigraben, the highest point of the tour. You continue down to Oberried, enjoying the view of Lake Brienz.
The route continues uphill to Unterweidligraben, where, the highlight of this tour, an 80-metre-long hanging bridge, is waiting. Here you must dismount and push the bike for a short distance, simply enjoying the fantastic view. As a dessert, the route runs downhill towards Brienz, crossing another hanging bridge just before Wildbach. The woodcarving village of Brienz is well worth taking time to explore. This tour is an absolute insider tip. The uphill sections are rewarded with beautiful views of Lake Brienz. The tour is also the perfect choice for leisurely bikers.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
