Choltal
Overview
Intro
The name itself makes you ask: why «Choltal»? The cyclists will discover it on this varied tour, that leads through protected moor land and along the tumbling stream down through the valley.
Description
Start either with the lift or ride up the tarred mountain road to Stockhütte. Allow yourself to enjoy the views over the deep blue lake with the city of Lucerne in the background.
A gravel track leads over the moors and meadows. The demanding part of the tour starts just after the Meiniger Hut. The trail leading down into the wildly romantic Choltal will put your technical prowess to the test. There are many picnic and BBQ points for a rest next to the stream, once the single trail has been completed. The route continues along the road (watch out for oncoming traffic) back to the rental centre in the village.
For those who are interested, stop in Sagendorf to find out more about the history of Emmetten and Choltal – coal was mined here….but that was years ago.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
