Fisetenpass Run
Overview
Intro
The cable-car takes you from Urnerboden, Switzerland’s largest alp, to the Fiseten pass and on the sledge you ride down into the valley. The slope is always well prepared. The route begins with a steep, windig section and becomes flatter.
Description
The sledding experience on the Fiseten pass starts with the cableway trip, which is an experience in itself. From the mountain station, a short walk leads to the start of the approximately seven-kilometre long descent. A magnificent panorama awaits sledders from atop the Fisteten ridge: Urnerboden, the Klausen pass, the Clariden glacier. The view stretches far into the Glarus alps.
The sled hurtles down the valley towards the alp Wängi – the route begins with a steep, windig section. Once it reaches the tree-line, the always well-groomed alpine road becomes flatter and simpler. Sledders wind their way through open pine woods on their way to the ride's end in Urnerboden.
As the Klausen pass is closed in winter, the high valley can only be reached via Linthal (GL), making Unterboden a quiet destination for an excursion to untouched, wild nature. Politically, the plateau at the foot of Claridenstock is an unusual case: it belongs to the canton of Uri, despite its position on the Glarus side of the pass.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
