Foxrun Wengernalp–Wengen
Overview
Intro
The Wengen Fox Run – sledge like a champion. When you go whizzing right by the famous Lauberhorn ski slope, you’ll feel almost like Didier Cuche or Carlo Janka – but on a sledge instead of skis!
Description
This is the closest sledging gets to racing driving! The Fox Run goes alongside the famous Lauberhorn ski slope, through different parts of the mountain region above Wengen. The track is very varied: It runs over gentle slopes with flat paths, over railway tracks, through the forest and past typical little wooden huts.
The starting point is at Wengernalp. This can be reached by train, and it is located in the wide basin below the impressive glacial scenery and the peaks of Mount Mönch and Jungfrau. High above is the famous destination of Jungfraujoch. From this alp, where composers such as Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky spent their holidays, the sledging track runs through a small tunnel under the railway. Running along the ski slope, the track continues on to the Bumps Lift, the protected forest and towards Allmend. From here, the path winds its way even further down into Wengen, where there are no cars.
The sledge run has been beautifully laid out, but it does require some tobogganing experience. The run ends in Wengen, depending on the snow conditions, just above the station.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
