Fräkmüntegg-Schlittelweg
Overview
Intro
The wide downhill slope of natural snow, at the foot of Lucerne’s local mountain, makes for a thrilling sled ride. With a variety of snow sports equipment, snow lovers can build up a head of steam. The slope leads over open terrain and then leisurely through the forest back to the middle station Krienseregg.
Description
The Pilatus towers over central Switzerland at over 2000 metres above sea level. However, the slope does not start at the top of Lucerne’s local mountain, but at the Fräkmüntegg station, where you can get to by panorama gondola from Kriens in just over half an hour. Various downhill slopes made of natural snow invite you to an adventure.
After the start, about 20 meters next to the station, the longest slope leads first through a forest. Then you cross the cantonal border from Nidwalden back to Lucerne and reach open terrain. Here you have a beautiful view of Eigenthal, which lies at the northern foot of Mount Pilatus and stretches in a semicircle around Studberg.
Under the panorama gondola you pass Mülimäs alp. At the branching, the track dives back into the forest. Afterwards it runs leisurely and at the end relatively evenly to the «Naturfreundehaus». Once there, the sled has to be pulled for about 300 meters uphill to the middle station Krienseregg.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
