Haldi Trail
Overview
Intro
The Haldi trail on the sunny alpine terrace above Schattdorf rewards snowshoers with fantastic views of the Urner valley floor. And that’s not all: it is said to have a healing effect.
Description
The snowshoe route on the sunny alpine terrace of Haldi begins by the cableway's mountain station. The trail ascends along a steady gradient via Sonntagsboden and along the edge of the forest to its highest point at 1,420 metres. It is worth taking a break now and then to enjoy the magnificent views of Lake Uri.
On the way back, in the middle of a beautiful wooded area, hikers pass what was once a livestock watering trough, the «Billentrog». The crystal clear, cool water still gives energy. The well-known Swiss geobiologist Blanche Merz (1919-2002) even attributed healing powers to it. She discovered that lines of force that extend out over the entire earth spring up here. Merz called such places «points of energy».
Another highlight: the Haldi Chapel, perched on a small hill further down the valley. The wooden chapel is reminiscent of a Norwegian stave church and is a popular photo motif.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
