Description
This easy snowshoe tour travels over gently rolling countryside from Meistersrüte near Appenzell (Zug stop meeting place) via sunny meadows to a property in a fantastic location.
Over the hills in open countryside and through a small section of wood, you will reach the highest point of the hike via Hohhirschberg, the «Hoher Hirschberg» mountain restaurant. The ascent is rewarded with a spectacular circular view onto the hills, the Alpstein mountain and the peaks of the Vorarlberg in the east. The beautiful location of the restaurant with its children's playground provides an opportunity to satisfy your hunger and quench your thirst.
The descent is tackled via the route of the ascent, always with views over the famous hilly countryside of the Appenzellerland. If you want, you can put your snowshoes on your back and toboggan down to Meistersrüte.
