Discovering Heidi’s world
Overview
Intro
You can get to know and experience the famous story of Heidi on a hike in Maienfeld – and even walk along the trail with a buggy while being presented with the story of Heidi in a fun way. An experience for the young – and for the young at heart
Description
Maienfeld in the Bündner Herrschaft region of Graubünden provided the inspiration for poet Johanna Spyri’s Heidi novels. Heidi’s house, the goat shed, village shop, museum – and even Heidi’s cake – have been recreated to tell the story of Heidi. Starting at Maienfeld station, the Heidi Trail takes you through the historical town’s narrow alleyways to Rofels and Heidi Village. The trail is well signposted and buggy-friendly. Heidi House in Heidi Village, which is a museum today, traces Heidi’s life over 100 years ago.
It marks the start of the varied and more challenging Heidi Adventure Trail to Heidialp (Ochsenberg), which takes around an hour and three quarters. The story of Heidi is narrated in a fun way at twelve stations along the trail,
and if you don’t feel like hiking the 450 metres up to the Heidialp, you can follow the trail over fields and meadows to Hotel Restaurant Heidihof. Batteries charged, you can continue along the trail to the Heidi Fountain, erected in memory of Johanna Spyri. Some original Heidi souvenirs from the village shop in Maienfeld will serve as mementos of your hike.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
