Description
After a short tour of the enchanting lanes of Stein am Rhein, slip away into Zurich’s wine country, past pretty, flower-bedecked, timber-framed houses in Stammheim. The idyllic Nussbaumer Seen (lakes), both a small natural paradise, with no outlet and so-called dead-ice lakes.
The Kartause in Ittingen is soon reached for an inviting refreshment stop, before heading across the Thur to Frauenfeld, capital of Canton Thurgau. Ever undulating, the route winds its way through gently rolling landscape, after the old abbey town of Wil follows the course of the River Thur to touch the Fürstenland.
Then sidling along the edge of the pulsating corridor from Gossau to St. Gallen, industry, warehouses and homes. An unexpected arrival in the monastery district, where felt slippers must be worn to visit the venerable Stift Library. The wheels now turn gently on the descent to the silvery expanse of the Bodensee.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
