Mürren Bike
Overview
Intro
The Big Three, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, are among the most impressive natural wonders in Switzerland. You never tire of the sight of the peaks and glaciers on the Mürren tour.
Description
The ascent begins in Lauterbrunnen, just above the train station. The road winds itself up through steep forests and meadows. The hamlet of Alpweg is reached on a gravel road and finally you struggle past Winteregg up to Mittelberg, where you first see Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau in all their glory. The higher you climb, the more impressive they look. A short while later, after reaching the first high point, sit down in the grass for a while and savour the views. If you had to define mountain beauty, this scenery would not be far from perfect.
The route now passes Allmendhubel and arrives in Mürren, The small road continues downhill to Gimmelwald and on to the thundering Lütschinen river. While the gigantic mountains on the opposite side are actually closer on this section, they look more impressive with a bit of distance, for example up in the region of the Allmendhubel. But now it’s time to focus on the route, not on the scenery. It takes us to Stechelberg, first on a single trail, then on a small road. Along the valley floor, we coast back to Lauterbrunnen and every now and then we see a base jumper gliding down into the valley. Hard to say whether they can appreciate the beauty of the landscape in their adrenaline rush.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
