Napf Bike
Overview
Intro
Between Bern and Luzern lies the lovely rolling landscape of the Emmental, as if made for mountain biking tours. The high point is the Napf with unforgettable panoramic views.
Description
With the city of Bern at its back, the Napf-Bike route leads into the rolling Emmental hills. The Mänziwilegg vantage point allows a last look back at the capital city but the views of the Gantrisch region and the Bernese Alps are far more attractive. A little later and far from the valley bustle, popular excursion destination Mossegg has views over the Emmental heights before you curve down through a rocky ravine to Langnau.
Beautiful long-distance views open up repeatedly here in the heart of the Emmental. A demanding descent leads into the lonely Churzeneigraben (ravine) before the route makes a long climb towards Hochänzi. The mountain inn on the Napf summit is in view. But the route dives down into another dip before making another long climb to just below the summit. A detour up to the top of the steep alp road is rewarded by the overwhelming panorama from the Jura, over the Lucerne hinterland to the majestic Alpine chain.
After a lengthy descent, in Willisau country the hills gradually become lower, the dips easier, the terrain generally flatter. The route runs through Rottal, past dozens of small farms and hamlets towards Luzern, to its imposing finish on the shores of the Vierwaldstädtersee
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
