The Niederhorn funicular and cableway transport you quickly and conveniently up to almost 2000 m.a.s.l. Enjoy the following half-hour rapid downhill run from the Niederhorn to Vorsass with unrivalled views of Lake Thun and the snow-capped Bernese peaks.
Description
What a winter experience high above Lake Thun! The Niederhorn Vorsass sledge run promises great sledging paired with wonderful views into the Justistal valley below, the Bernese Oberland lakes and behind them, the majestic Alpine backdrop with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks.
The cableway whisks you from 1200 metres’ altitude up to the Niederhorn, one of the Bernese Oberland’s most popular excursion peaks. This area is ideal for wildlife watching in summer and autumn. The 750 metres altitude different become apparent when the breathtaking views of the Bernese Oberland mountains and Lake Thun reveal themselves. The downhill run from the peak begins at a rapid pace, leading at first over a meadow, then on a more winding path through and alongside forests to the Vorsass middle station.
From here, the Niederhorn cableway will take you either back up to the Niederhorn peak or down to Beatenberg. Snow depths permitting, the Vorsass–Beatenberg winter hiking trail (5km) can also be used for sledging, thus prolonging your snow fun.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
